Sept 5, 2009 - Labor Day Weekend

Well...not sure what to say. Erin has been in a lot of pain over the last few days. We have increased her pain medication. She has been sleeping a lot. Her condition has progressed. She can no longer walk, sit up, roll over, write or color, feed herself...etc. You get the idea. She wants to go to school so bad, but just doesn't feel up to it. My heart aches for her.

August 27, 2009

I guess it is time for an update. I have avoided this for long enough.

Erin is a fighter. She has fought long and hard for close to 4 years. Almost half of her life. She is my hero and I admire her courage. I wish I could be more like her.

As of late, Erin can't walk at all. She can't sit up, roll over move her legs, hold a pencil to write, etc. Her physical abilities are declining.

MRI

Erin had a MRI yesterday. The results were not good. Her tumor has grown a lot. It is very large and now is on both sides of her brain. Surgery is not an option according to Dr. Walker. He said if Erin were his daughter he would quit treating her and let it take its course.

So Sad!!!!! :(
Will keep you posted
Nancy

Finally an Update!

It has been some time since I have posted a blog. To tell you the truth I have been so exhausted. I can finally admit it. The emotional stress that goes with a challenge like we have faced just caught up with me and I just didn't get it done.

Day 1 of the Fundraiser

WOW! Yesterday was amazing. I am completely over whelmed by the many people who so generously donated.

We started by having Otter Pops, suckers and chocolate dipped pretzels. Well the pretzels were gone in about 10 minutes. We had a lot of disappointed kids. We will have more today. So look for them. We ran out of suckers. The funniest part was that half of the otter pops didn't freeze. So we had otter pop explosions. My white shirt was not a white shirt with red polka dots. It was worth it and the dots did wash out.

Thanks for the comments, posts, love and encouragement!

I just wanted to let you know that Erin and I love to see your comments. I love to read them to her and see her smile. It is encouraging, especially at those times when you feel all alone. Then you read all the love and encouragement from each of you and it lifts our spirits. Thank you for the posts.

KEEP THEM COMING!!
Love,
Nancy and Erin

4 Days Only at Orchard Elementary

Erin Hope Galbraith a 2nd grader here at Orchard Elementary has been battling for 3 1/2 years with cancer in the form of a brain tumor. She has recently undergone surgery to have a tumor removed but further treatments are required. All who know Erin love her. She is a spunky, feisty, loving little girl with a fighting spirit. In October of 2005 she was given six months to live and because of faith, prayer and her fighting spirit she has beaten those odds. You can read more about Erin at www.hope4erin.com

April 22, 2009 Update on Erin

Today is Wednesday. Erin has gone to school all week. She is so happy and loving it. Erin is behind in school because of all the days she has missed. I was so concerned as to what to do. Mr Bezzant told me that she finally qualified for a 504 aide to help her because of her disability. YEAH! She came home from school yesterday with a perfect score on her math test. I was so shocked. I am amazed at how fast she learns and gets back on track.

Today was Headache FREE!!

Can you believe it. For the first time in literally weeks Erin was headache free. I am so excited I wanted to tell you.

Another great thing was that she went to school today! ALL day. She has been wanting to go to school so bad, so she went yesterday for 2 hours and it went good. Today she went all day. She did great. No headache and she had so much fun. I am so happy.

Again, Erin needs your help!

We met with the radiation team regarding Erin's care. After much pondering, prayer, etc. the decision was made to not do radiation.

We are taking Erin back to her doctor in Mexico. We need to go as soon as we get her passport. We need to raise $2500 to get her down there.

In the past the health plan Dr. Calzada put Erin on stopped the growth of her tumor. We have tried other things but none of these are working so we are heading back to Mexico.

If you know of anyone who can help fund her trip to Mexico send an email to erinhope@comcast.net.

Thanks for everything.
